Welcome to the American Legion
Riders of Alabama

The American Legion Riders, in Alabama, is a Post level program supported by State Officers for communications and coordination. All ALR post level chapters are encouraged to associate and support other chapters in the state. Through voluntary association, the State Officers strive to bring focus to the common goals and programs of the individual chapters ensuring effectiveness of the American Legion in support of the veterans of the state of Alabama and this great nation.
Where We Are Today
As the membership of the American Legion Riders is a very diverse group, so are the programs that they are involved in. By allowing each American Legion Rider Chapter to give their members the ability to manage their program at the Post level, the program has been allowed to grow. Visible participation in Post and community events and activities is central to our philosophy.
Legend of the Bell
Many years ago, on a cold December night, a crusty old biker was returning from a trip to Mexico. His saddlebags were filled with toys and other assorted trinkets to give to the kids at a group home near where he worked.
As he rode along that night, thinking how lucky he had been in life, having a loving riding partner that understood his need to roam the highways, and to his trusty old panhead that hadn't let him down in the many years they shared the road together.
American Legion Riders Poem
American Legion Riders,
the loud thundering roar,
of our freedom providers,
sacrificing life and more.
Remembering now and then,
lonely nights of terror and fear,
the bloody battles back when,
to fallen riders they shed a tear.
Our price of freedom is high,
world of oppression and pain
sacrificing their life many die,
protecting in the pouring rain.
